Welcome to St Mark's!

St Mark’s National Theological Centre is a scholarly Christian theological community serving Australian society. Anglican in foundation and ecumenical in ethos, St Mark’s pursues a mission which, in the words of its founder, Bishop Ernest Burgmann, is to engage the people of God with Australian society.

St Mark’s also prepares lay leaders, deacons and priests from a number of Anglican dioceses in Australia for a variety of ministries.

A wonderful library, a chapel to sustain prayer, a journal of theology for critical thought, dedicated scholarly staff, vibrant community life and good friends all give substance to St Mark’s and its endeavours. When you enter its doors you will find a spirit of peace, joy and trust that has its roots in the gospel of Jesus Christ. Bishop Burgmann’s vision has taken deep root not only in the capital but far beyond through the distance education program of the School of Theology, Charles Sturt University (CSU).
